Jeff Stelling receives award for Prostate Cancer fundraising

FMA Members help Jeff Stelling’s ‘unbelievable’ efforts which have been recognised with the Celebrity Fundraiser of the Year prize at last night’s JustGiving Fundraising Awards, beating actor Tom Hardy and stage star Denise Van Outen to the honour.

The long-standing Sky Sports Soccer Saturday host has raised more than £800k for Prostate Cancer UK on two epic marches, completing 15 marathons in 15 days from Exeter City FC to Newcastle United FC in June on our March for Men, and walking from his native Hartlepool to Wembley in 2016.

Huge thank you to FMA Members who were on hand along the way to provide medical support.

“I’m proud and honoured to accept this award on behalf of every single person that supported me along the way, and continue to do so to this day,” said Jeff on receiving the award.

“Since deciding to take on these challenges, I’ve learned so much about prostate cancer, and the devastating effects it has. I’ve met some incredible people along the way and been inspired beyond belief at their stories and positivity while dealing with something so heart-breaking. I take my hat off to them all.”

Jeff thanked Prostate Cancer UK, all the football clubs, their fans and the public for their support along the hundreds of gruelling miles he walked. “This award is for them all,” he said.

A spokesperson for JustGiving praised Jeff’s outstanding commitment to our cause, saying: “His efforts to raise not just funds, but awareness around prostate cancer has been extraordinary.”

We couldn’t agree more. Congratulations Jeff! You’re a hero.
