EGYPTIAN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION SIGNS PERFORMANCE AGREEMENT WITH FMPA BUSINESS PARTNER CATAPULT SPORTS

In advance of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA)has chosen Catapult Sports to deliver world-leading athlete monitoring technology to advance team and player performance.

The partnership will see the EFA receive 25 PlayerTek by Catapult units to help optimise performance, mitigate injury risk, and quantify return to play protocols for the senior national team squad. Tracking key metrics such as distance covered, speed, PlayerLoad, impacts, work ratio and heart rate, the PlayerTek by Catapult system gives coaches and sports scientists a detailed insight into the condition and performance of their players.

As seven-time Africa Cup of Nations champions, Egypt are one of the continent’s most successful teams. Currently preparing to compete at the World Cup in Russia, Egypt’s coaching staff have recently received comprehensive product training to enable them to get the PlayerTek by Catapult system up and running before the tournament.

Moustafa Ali, Catapult’s representative in Egypt, is excited to see the national team benefit from Catapult’s technology: “As Egypt prepares for its first World Cup in 28 years, the team is making sure that its stars are in the best shape possible ahead of this historic moment. The team’s medical staff have made a great effort to ensure that they have all the latest technologies, and this partnership with Catapult will ensure the team is fully equipped and ready for the challenge.”

Juan José González-Contreras, Head of Sales at Catapult Sports, commented on the agreement: “Egypt are one of Africa’s leading teams on the international stage. The EFA’s decision to use PlayerTek by Catapult highlights their commitment to improving athlete monitoring processes and the wider performance infrastructure at the very highest level. We look forward to following the team’s progress in Russia this summer.”
