Ethical and medico-legal considerations regarding healthcare provision in sport A sports clinician’s role may be summarised as “assisting athletes to achieve optimal performance, enhancing resilience to injury, and maximising availability for training and competition”. To achieve this a multi- disciplinary approach is required to address the many challenges that an athlete may face.
