Professor Graham N smith
1950 – 2026
The Football Medicine and Performance Association (FMPA) were saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Graham N. Smith. Graham was a pioneering physiotherapist and highly respected clinician within in his profession and in particular establishing the Society of Sports Therapists.
FMPA CEO, Eamonn Salmon, said “Graham had a crucial role in helping establish the FMPA. His guidance and support were instrumental in helping the organisation in the early stages of its development. Thereafter, for over 16 years, he served on the Advisory Board, attended and contributed to every FMPA conference, frequently chairing and presenting at the annual event. In recognition of his impact, he received the FMPA’s Outstanding Contribution to Medicine and Performance award in 2019.
I will always remember Graham, not just as a mentor and professional colleague but as a personal friend who was always on hand to offer guidance and support.”
Eamonn added “I would like to express my deep condolences to his wife, Alison, on behalf of the FMPA, members and colleagues. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”
