INTRODUCING PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS: AN OBJECTIVE SCIENCE
FEATURE / Dr. Andrew D. Butterworth, University of Derby
Performance analysis (PA) is the objective, impartial and reliable recording of performances in matches and training (Hughes & Bartlett, 2008). Using fast developing technologies and trained expert analysts, the discipline seeks to provide vital objectivity and increased comprehension of performance at all levels of the game (O’Donoghue & Mayes, 2013; Jones et al., 2020). Here at the FMPA, we are delighted to be broadening our reach and embedding PA within our publication and our wider organisational structures.
