‘Calf and achilles tendon injuries in football: what, why, when & rehab’ Seth O’Neill

What are the common injuries of the Calf and Achilles complex in football? How do we diagnose these Calf and Achilles problems?

Seth will discuss the reasons we see these injuries, and the potential for reducing their risk alongside appropriate athlete training. Seth will highlight the risk factors that may lead this type of injury, so that you can manage these ‘high risk’ athletes. Seth will also provide practical examples for rehabilitation and return to play.

Speaker:

We welcome Seth O’Neill. An associate profession in physiotherapy at the University of Leicester, with a clinical interest and PhD studying ‘Achilles Tendinopathy Management’. Seth has published a number of peer-reviewed papers and editorials on the risk factors associated with Achilles Tendinopathy, as well as how tendinopathy affects the action of the plantar flexors.

Seth’s most recent research is focussed on the involvement of the Soleus muscle, understanding how important Soleus may be in the development and treatment of tendinopathy and calf injuries. He has lectured nationally and has produced several podcasts addressing Achilles tendinopathy and its management, and he is a strong advocate of research driving improvements in clinical care.

The event will be held in WV1 at Molineux Stadium on the evening of Thursday 17th October 2019, registration and light refreshments will be available from 6.30pm, before the evening begins at 7:00pm.
