Profile
During Alex’s studies he volunteered with Oxford United FC enabling him to learn the fundamentals of sports medicine in an academy setting and completed his FA IFAS qualification. He graduated in Physiotherapy BSc (Hons) from Oxford Brookes University in 2014. During the early years of his career Alex worked with Oxford United FC Academy whilst employed for Ramsay Healthcare working in musculoskeletal outpatients and orthopaedics.
Alex’s sporting interest lead him to work for Mansfield Town FC as Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine. Throughout his time at Mansfield Town FC Alex developed his skills further in acute sporting injury management and football-orientated rehabilitation evolving the medical department which reduced the overall number of injuries per 1000 hours by 38%.
Alex has been able to provide his experience in sport rehabilitation to consult with BMI Healthcare assisting in the rehabilitation and treatment of the sporting population.
More recently Alex has worked with Manchester United Women’s FC assisting the 1st team and U21’s squad in the development of the Women’s Academy and completed his FA aTMMiF qualification.
Alex has a particular interest in lower limb injuries specifically the knee and ankle, injury prevention and performance rehabilitation. He is seeking to further his studies at University of Central Lancashire in Sports Medicine MSc.
